We got together with some friends from the Shelby FCC this weekend to celebrate the Moon Festival. This is a Chinese holiday to celebrate the end of the harvest.
Families and friends gather for a feast and eat moon cakes.
They say the moon is the fullest on this day. Tuesday Sept. 25th actually marks this holiday. We kept it simple. We met at a local Chinese restaurant ate and then went to a local park. The girls walked(ran) around with their lanterns lit under the beautiful moonlit sky. There was a nice breeze blowing. It was a perfect evening. We all ate moon pies and played. We can't wait to get the girls together again.

fun... Ana Claire's dress was perfect!
How wonderful.... they are all just beautiful and how special that they got to celebrate this festival. The first picture of Ana Claire is beautiful. It looks like the light from the lantern is leaving a RED trail through the air... Reminds me of the Red Thread.
I want to celebrate with Hannah next year. HOpefully by then we will have met people in our area.
Silly question????? How does the lantern light up? Can't be a candle, it isn't plugged in.... is it a flashlight inside?
I love her dress.
Ok, I will leave you alone now... I can't sleep but am exhausted and keep rambling on your blog... lol

I have had a couple ask about the lanterns. I got them from
www.orientaltrading.com
They have a battery operated little light in them. Cute little keepsake for their room or to play with.
Thanks for the lantern tip! Happy Moon festival day! It doesn't feel like autumn much, but we're ready to put out our fall decorations for sure! It looks like yall had a great celebration! I liked looking at DeEtte's pics too!
